A Dream Duos First: Upcycling Towels into Clothes & Handbags

One of my favorite things to do is explore new ideas &the more adventurous they are, the better. I’ve been upcycling for a while, mostly clothes, fabric, & denim. I’ve learned that inspiration can come at the most surprising times. While I was out browsing, shopping one day, I came across several kitchen towels with interesting designs, &I got very inspired. It wasn’t planned, but I picked a few up to see what I could do with them.

I made a lemon-patterned towel into a skirt &va matching handbag. Since the towel was pink, I crocheted a pink drawstring waistband for the skirt, a border, and a handle for the bag. Then, to complete the outfit, I made a pink bandeau top, & honestly, it all just came together. I made a tutorial video to show how to make these items, &it’s quite easy!

For the strawberry-patterned towel, I used red yarn, and for the planters, I used blue. The other fun part is that I’m looking forward to how I’m going to style all of these. Since I want to the patterns to stand out, I’ll wear solid tops that complement the other pieces. These matching sets are perfect for the summer!

It’s hard to pick my favorite because I like them all in different ways, but I might lean towards the lemon-patterned set. I don’t often mix yellow with pink, but it gives the set a different vibe that I adore. They’re two bold colors, &it has an undeniably strong effect.

I hope this inspires others to find surprising items that they want to upcycle &explore their own creativity. I’ve got more ideas for upcycling towels so be on the lookout for that. The creative process never ends!
