Behind The Design: The Dream Crochet Wrist Project Bag
The Dream Crochet Wrist Project Bag was an idea that I created on a whim and I just went with it. It happened when I was gathering some crochet items to take on the go, and I remember wishing that the strap for my regular fabric bag was wider. The weight is distributed better and when project bags get on the heavy side, the smaller handles can affect circulation. Then I thought...oh why don't I make my own!
At first, I was going to make it fully crochet, but I’ve made a project bag before and I wanted to make this really unique, so I chose to do an fabric stash instead. I had a handful of fabric fat quarters in my stash and I thought the pink and the design would look lovely for a project bag. With it being the summer, I’m drawn towards colors that really pop and feel bright.

I cut out the shape first, ensuring that the openings were wide enough for easy access. I used white yarn for the border and pink for the crochet granny square handle. (There was a lot of measuring & frogging along the way too!) Although, I considered just making it solid pink-keeping the white border, I felt like the hand should also pop too.

I posted the how-to video on The Dream Crochet Instagram and it’s super simple to accomplish. I used 1 fat quarter of fabric, folded it in half to cut the side corner edges in a curve, sewed the bag inside out, measured the bag openings, crcheted the bag opening trim detail (1 row of HDC STS Only), attached the row to the bag edge, made five round granny squar DC STS, and attached the granny squares to the trim.

What’s so great about this is how truly useful it is. It’s comfortable on the wrist whic makes crocheting on the go so much easier. I’m looking forward to using this and making more in various colors as well as prints/ patterns.
