Behind the Design: The Open Floral Jacket & Upcyling Update

So just because I'm moving into more Sophistication Dreamwear, doesn't mean I've forgotten about Dream Duos! Upcycling and Reworking, will always remain an important part of The Dream Crochet, and it brings me so much joy. Spring is on the way, and I'm looking forward to Spring fabrics, and I was in the mood to experiment.

As I was going through my stash, I came across these beautiful floral prints, that I was immediately inspired to create an open cardigan with it. I used a darker green for the borders to create contrast with the bright pink, while also matching the greens. I then created bishop sleeves in a granny square pattern, using white, green, and pink, to bring it all together.

I styled it with a blouse, had the collar peek out of the cardigan, and tucked it into cream-colored ripped denim. What I love about this is the contrast. The open cardigan is so soft and romantic, but the jeans give it that hard edge.

It’s still cool outside, so I wanted to make a layering piece, and this goes so well with basic tops that I can spruce up with an open cardigan to give it that stylistic pop. I'm gearing up for my Spring inspirations, and it's very helpful to work with fabrics to bring in fresh ideas. I'm also mindful of working with the items I already have rather than getting more things and forgetting what I have.

The real fun part is that these older patterns feel just that bit of new and fresh because I really haven’t forgotten about a lot of them. I have more ideas for upcycles, heading towards the near future and I am quite sure more will come, as I look through even more patterns in my stash.
