Spring Ideas, Making Crochet Bags

I never leave the house without a bag, so I feel guilt-free whenever I crochet bags because I know they’ll be put to good use. Now that spring is here, I really want to create accessories that flow well with these styles. Some are straightforward and classic and use lighter colors, but I can also play around with colors to add that pop when my outfits are more solid. It’s all about having options.

Love using up scrap fabric too, to create crochet bags!

The Lyra crochet bags are so much fun to make, I loved making the kit for Lion Brand Yarns (I’m making another one currently too!) I find myself going back to them often. I made two bags with this 1 Kit, both in varying sizes and in different colors to really push the option for customization. Both of them have a granny square design, but with unique vibes.

The sunflower is my favorite flower, so I had to make a bag with the design. The light blue represents the sky, and it just feels so nice and fresh for spring; it's like carrying sunshine. I wore it with The Mesaines Crochet Cardigan, and it just matches so perfectly. This bag also goes well with sundresses.

I rediscovered this cropped long-sleeved top I made and felt inspired to create a matching bag. Since lavender was the primary color, I wanted to use less of it on the bag. There are four granny squares on each side, and I used gray, green, the aforementioned lavender, and purple. It was made on a whim and turned out to be one of my favorite accessories.

I love making bags, especially when you have scrap yarn. You can really use up your stash to put them to good use. Also, I’ve been reworking some past designs that were actually clothes (photo below!) that I decided to change them into crochet bags instead. Switching up what a project might’ve started out to be, by envisioning a more wear, all to use them in a fun, & new useable way!

More crochet bags are on the way!
