Denim Jacket: Mixing and Matching Crochet Sets

I have to admit, I'm proud of this denim and crochet jacket. I enjoy crochet-matching sets so much, and this turned out exactly how I wanted it to. That's not always the case, but when it happens it's such a great feeling It’s got vintage vibes with the classic denim jacket, but with this being an upcycled design, it feels fresh at the same time.

After I made this crochet hat using orange, burgundy, and green, I realized that I wanted to make this a matching set. Since I had a good amount of yarn leftover, (love when that happens!) it seemed like it was meant to be. I had been thinking about upcycling this denim jacket I’ve had for a while, but I couldn’t find the right yarn to do it, until now.

I used the same yarn I made the hat with for the sleeves and sewed them right onto the exterior for the denim jacket. I wanted them to be spacious, so I made them big with fitted cuffs at the wrist. I really liked the jacket before, but now I absolutely love it.

I still wasn’t done after that! There was more yarn left over after the sleeves, so I made a matching skirt and a long-sleeved top. The best part is how I can mix and match this set in various combinations. The jacket looks good with the skirt, and I can wear the top with the skirt too. I can also pair the top with a jumper or jeans, or just wear the skirt with another sweater so it stands out.

I wore this shortly after making it, which is another sign that I was happy with it. I wore the crocheted beanie with the matching upcycled denim jacket, a burgundy turtleneck, jeans, and burgundy boots, and I’m wholeheartedly looking forward to styling this set in various ways in the future too!
